Richard King Crowned Grand Prix UK Champion
Richard King sent his live poker tournament winnings ever close to $400,000 this weekend when he added £9,070 to his earnings total by taking down the latest instalment of the Grand Prix UK at Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham.
The support for this £120 buy-in £100,000 guaranteed event was so great that Dusk Till Dawn was forced to cancel the turbo-structured because 1,507 players had bought in online at PartyPoker and live at DTD club, pushing the venue to capacity!
Each of the nine players that navigated their way to the final table did so with at least £1,500 locked in for their efforts. Andrew Palmer secured that sum, the largest recorded live prize of Palmer’s career. Another Andrew, Andrew Salami, joined Palmer on the rail in eighth place, a finish worth £2,000.
Then came the exit of Gheorghe Stipan, who walked away with £2,500. Stipan banked £15,780 in June 2022 when he won a £250 buy-in tournament in Luton. Stipan then cashed in the July 2022 edition of the Grand Prix UK Main Event, and now has another final table under his belt.
With Stipan out of the way, the remaining six players decided to look at the numbers for a possible deal for the remaining prize pool. A deal was struck, one that left £2,500 more for the eventual champion.
Scott Wills was the main beneficiary of the deal because he bowed out in sixth place yet still scooped £10,875. Wills can be delighted with his performance, especially because he was the chip leader in an online Day 1 at PartyPoker before making his way to Nottingham with a min-cash in tow. That min-cash swelled into a five-figure prize!
Bogdan Neamtu and Bartlomiej Gorzolka were the next pair of players to bust and head to the cashier’s desk. Neamtu got his hands on £11,115, while Gorzolka secured an £8,200 prize. Both payouts represent each player’s best live result. Gorzolka, Stipan, and Wells also received a free £330 MILLIONS UK Phase satellite ticket for reaching the final table of the Grand Prix UK Main Event after playing their Day 1 online at PartyPoker; it pays to play at PartyPoker! Stay locked and loaded for future promotions!
Christopher Field was another player to look out for in the £330 MILLIONS UK Phase tournaments because he got his hands on a ticket through the event’s free gift promotion! It isn’t only our high buy-in live events that reward players
Heads-up was set when Zohaib Rehman crashed out in third for £14,000, the tournament’s largest score. Rehman won a £168 buy-in tournament at Dusk Till Dawn for £9,165 back in February 2010. He now has a new career top score.
King and Orlando Anderson locked horns heads-up for the title of champion, the trophy, and the £2,500 put aside for the eventual champion. King completed an impressive comeback from the start of the final table, emerging victorious and reeling in a £9,070 payday. Anderson had to make do with a £12,129 consolation prize, the popular local’s first five-figure live result.

- 47th place in the £5,300 MILLIONS Dusk Till Dawn for £17,500

- 2nd place in the $1,000 High Roller for $12,165
