Can You Afford To Miss the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event?

The MILLIONS Online Main Event and Mini Main Event saw their opening flights take place over the weekend, and dozens of players are now guaranteed a slice of the $2 million and $500,000 guaranteed prize pools, respectively. The $320 buy-in MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event is incredible value not only because there are half a million dollars guaranteed but because it is possible to win your $320 seat from as little as a $0.01.

A field of 245 PartyPoker stars hit the virtual felt for Day 1A of the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event, with only 37 of those grinders progressing to Day 2. Those 37 players are now guaranteed at least a min-cash for their efforts as they march on towards the event’s largest prizes.

Malta-based Belgian Michael Gathy has done his chances of becoming the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event champion no harm at all by bagging up the chip lead after the first of six flights. Gathy, a four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, turned his 1,000,000 starting stack into a tournament-leading 12,223,663, one of only two players to break through the 12 million chip barrier.

Mindaugas Kriauciunas (12,067,562) was pipped to the chip lead by Gathy, but can be delighted with their performance so far.

The current top ten is littered with household names, all of who have a realistic chance of walking away with this event’s top prize. Steven Van Zadelhoff (11,972,472) is poised for yet another deep run in a major poker tournament, as are Philippe D’Auteuil (11,474,201), Tom Kunze (11,126,535), and Estonian Aleksejs Meless (10,774,100).

Further down the counts, you find the likes of Ioannis Angelou Konstas (7,151,418), Boris Angelov (1,736,930), and WSOP Online Main Event champion Stoyan Obreshkov (1,717,528).

Day 1A of the $3,200 buy-in $2 million guaranteed MILLIONS Online Main Event saw 23 of the 152 starters navigate their way through the shark-infested waters and lock in a min-cash for their efforts, which should be around the $5,500 to $7,000 mark!

Team Online’s Jaime Staples was one of the 23 players who punched their Day 2 tickets at the first attempt. Staples progressed with 3,645,348 chips, enough for 12th place right now.

Gabriele Re is the man to catch after Day 1A, having amassed an incredible stack of 27,674,473 on Day 1A. The fact Re sat down with 1 million chips shows how amazing he performed on the first MILLIONS Online Main Event flight.

To put Re’s colossal stack into context, Brazil’s Rodrigo Sirichuk claimed second place with a 17,229,755 stack, over 10 million fewer chips than the current leader! It would be a major shock not to see Re extremely deep in this fantastic tournament.

Among the 23 players who reached Day 2 are such luminaries as Preben Stokkan (10,292,581), Ioannis Angelou Konstas (8,806,690), Elio Fox (8,683,019), and Martins Adeniya (8,652,352).

Also in the top ten are two players you will be familiar with if you are regular readers of the PartyPoker Blog. Leon Sturm finished ninth in the MILLIONS Online Opener PKO for $7,517 earlier this week. Sturm has 7,348,137 chips in the Main Event.

Vojtech Skalak triumphed in the MILLIONS Online PKO for a cool $71,466. He finished Day 1A of the Main Event with 7,228,802 chips, enough for tenth-place currently.

Also through to Day 2 are Jerry Odeen (5,768,695), Joakim Andersson (3,043,468), Michael Sklenicka (2,649,374), and former MILLIONS Online champion Jon Van Fleet (1,551,816),
