Argentina’s Brian Ganon leads the $400K PPC Malta KO Championship

Another massive PPC Malta Online tournament is preparing to crown its champion and award a juicy prize that will boost that winner’s bankroll. The $320 buy-in PPC Malta #12-H Knockout Championship only has a trio of Day 1s remaining, will anyone catch Argentina’s Brian Ganon at the top of the chip counts?

Ganon excelled on his starting flight, turning a 100,000 starting stack into a tournament-leading pile of chips worth 2,790,515. The Argentinian eliminated a staggering 16 opponents on his march to the top of the chip counts, those busted players sending $1,846 worth of bounty payments to Ganon’s partypoker account. Unsurprisingly, nobody has accumulated as many scalps as Ganon at this stage.

Jonathan Gill is the only other player with more than two million chips right now. The popular Brit currently occupies second place on the leaderboard courtesy of his 2,096,886 stack. There is still a long way to go in this tournament but expect Gill to be there or thereabouts when the big money is awarded.

Plenty of established players and household names litter the 155 chips counts that are safely through to Day 2 on March 28. They include Daan Mulders (1,400,111), Joao Simao (1,365,982), Fabian Gumz (1,056,568), Diego Ventura (905,327), Davidi Kitai (650,472), Jans Arends (639,052), and Team partypoker’s Matthew Staples (588,424), Jaime Staples (383,484), and Carl Froch (137,044).

Our very own Matthew Staples is flying high in the $55. He returns to the action with 1,953,663 chips, which are enough for fourth place currently. Staples also has $68.75 worth of bounties, meaning he is freerolling his way to one of the bigger prizes from the main prize pool.

Four $55 and four $11 flights remain on the schedule. They start at 12:05 GMT, 15:05 GMT, 17:05 GMT, and 18:05 GMT, with Day 2 shuffling up and dealing at 19:30 GMT prompt. Good luck!
