Festival Highlights

John Power Is The Grand Prix Cork Champion

 

Grand Prix Cork kicked off back on December 1st on Day 1A here at the Macau Sporting Club. That was followed by two Online Day 1's, a Day 1 played at the Eglinton Casino in Galway, and five more opening flights this week. It all culminated with the 108 survivors of the nine Day 1's coming together today to fight it out for Grand Prix Cork title on Day 2.

After very recently doubling up, Stephen Fiddas found himself all in again, this time on a #10D board. John Power was his opponent, holding #10S and leaving Fiddas' with precisely zero outs.

Michal Muzykant Eliminated in 6th Place (€2,400)

 

Roger Harman raised in the hijack, with Michal Muzykant moving in for his last 975,000 from the cutoff. Both blinds folded, and Harman made the call.

It was Muzykant out in front with #10S, versus the of Harman, but only until the dealer spread a flop. The landed on the turn, giving Muzykant the nut flush draw; a draw that didn't come in as the came down on the river. Muzykant picked up €2,400 for his 6th place finish, while Harman dragged in a pot that rivals Wilhelmine Connolly for the chiplead.

Gastao Silva Eliminated in 7th Place (€1,900)

 

On a board, with around 800,000 in the middle, Gastao Silva bet out 475,000, with Wilhelmine Connolly raising enough to set Silva all-in. Silva went deep into the tank, reluctant to put his remaining 690,000 in the middle. After almost two minutes thinking time, he shrugged and made the call.

Andrew Casey Eliminated in 8th Place (€1,500)

 

After losing a big flip with versus Gastao Silva's , Andrew Casey found himself with just 430,000 and desperate for a double-up.

He found a spot to get it in with #10H, but ran into John Power's , failing to improve on the flop. Casey found a pair on the #10S turn, but the river was no good and he leaves the tournament area in 8th place, taking with him 1,500
