How does "Button Ante" work?

The player on the button posts a single ante, rather than every player posting a small ante (the Small Blind and Big Blind still post their blinds as normal). In 9-handed tournaments, the Button Ante is equal to the size of the Big Blind when 7-9 handed and the Small Blind when 3-6 handed. In 8-handed tournaments, the Button Ante is equal to the size of the Big Blind when 5-8 handed, and the Small Blind when 3-5 handed. In 6-max, the Button Ante is always equal to the size of the Small Blind. There is no Button Ante when heads up.
